Hi everybody!
Today me and Chiara had a good time in San Pietro di Castello. We met good people to work on our projects: Loris, a 55 years old man, a mosaic craftsman that has a space in the ancient baptistery of the island, he was happy to help us with tipical recipes (we will do a small lunch to begin, I will send you more info about this); Alberto, a fisherman and also a very good singer, that also is helping us with recipes and is telling us the history of San Pietro and Venice in general; Antonia, an old woman, very active, that showed us her life trough pictures, and that loves to sew and play with her friends to bingo, so we went with her to play with her friends! It was cool!
In these days we are also trying to make some ancient recipes that I found in a book suggested by a good chef from "Le Spighe", a pastafactory/restaurant on via Garibaldi (it's a bit expensive but I recommend you to try it! one mixed full dish is around 9 euro). Her name is Magda and she is also helping me in trying to take these recipes and make them more contemporary, accessible also to young generations that don't have time to rediscover the tradition because of the lack of time, the fat in the recipes, or the high costs.
This book is called: "A tola co i nostri veci" and is all written in dialect!!!
Last week I tried alone to make:
Minestra de risi, seani e pomidori (very good)
Salata de verze crue (very good)
Tortiera de patate al forno (too heavy)
Polpete de spinassi (too much butter but good)
Yesterday I made PINZA with Chiara, a tipical food from Venice, that we brought topeople in San Pietro. Here you have the pictures! Have fun!
